Job Description: Shop Foreman
Reports To: Director of Production and President/CEO
The Shop Foreman oversees the full fabrication facility and is responsible for ensuring the smooth and accurate flow of information, materials and work throughout the shop. This role maintains schedules, enforces deadlines and upholds quality control standards across all production areas.
The Shop Foreman works on projects assigned by production leadership or senior project managers and provides supervision, guidance and support to all department heads within the fabrication environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Train and encourage all craftsmen and department heads to perform at high standards.
Use a broad range of construction techniques to build a wide variety of products.
Read and accurately interpret construction drawings and plans.
Be familiar with the operation and safe use of all shop machinery and tools.
Collaborate with project managers and department heads to achieve superior results.
Maintain a clean, orderly equipment and work area.
Stay current on new techniques and materials.
Keep records, spreadsheets, plans and drawings organized and up to date.
Maintain quality control across all work produced.
Qualifications
Leadership skills with the ability to teach, train and motivate.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer fluency, including spreadsheet creation and the ability to read plans.
Proficiency in carpentry.
Strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Effective time management skills.
Physical Requirements
The role requires regular standing for extended periods, walking and sitting.
Must be able to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel materials and equipment, and reach with hands or arms.
Requires the ability to climb or balance, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl when necessary.
