Job Description:

A leading provider of custom scenic fabrication, automation, and painted scenery for the live entertainment industry is seeking an Estimator / Technical Analyst to join its Project Management team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate estimates and supporting the commercial success of complex scenic and automation projects.

The Estimator / Technical Analyst prepares budgets and detailed proposals for scenic construction and provides insight on cost saving opportunities across pricing and bidding. They offer ongoing feedback and analysis to senior leadership on how to improve cost efficiency and strengthen estimation benchmarks.

Working closely with Project Management, this person reviews potential projects to identify construction challenges and areas of concern, then provides clear written and verbal summaries. They detail materials and methods for construction for pricing purposes and research vendors while analyzing historical data to prepare time, material, and labor cost estimates.

Collaboration is central to the role. The Estimator / Technical Analyst partners with internal teams such as Engineering, Scenic Art, Automation, Set Electrics, and Production Management. They obtain and evaluate vendor quotes, discuss manufacturability and potential alternates, and help find creative technical solutions and new building techniques that meet budget, schedule, design, and client requirements.

The role also involves maintaining project records, gathering and reviewing both historical and live project data to support continuous improvement in future estimating work.

Qualifications include at least 3 years of experience in commercial theatre or entertainment industry construction and estimating, along with a strong understanding of scenic construction and automation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong AutoCAD skills are required, and the ability to navigate Inventor models is a plus. Knowledge of advanced automated tooling such as CNC lathes, routers and mills is important.

Experience working with collective bargaining agreements or union contracts is beneficial, especially familiarity with stagehand or artist agreements. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize and execute effectively under pressure, communicate ideas clearly, and bring a self motivated, team oriented and highly collaborative approach.
