Job Description:
A well established scenic fabrication and automation studio serving the live entertainment industry is seeking a Production Manager to join its production leadership team.
The Production Manager reports to the Director of Production and is responsible for managing projects during the production phase, with a strong focus on technical design, fabrication, and logistics. This role also oversees auxiliary departments including CNC routing and rentals and rigging.
Role Responsibilities
Manage multiple productions through the shop, overseeing technical design milestones and fabrication to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
Identify, communicate, and schedule resource needs for individual projects
Develop and maintain fabrication calendars to clearly communicate milestones
Coordinate with engineering teams to translate drawings into shop floor execution
Lead and manage multiple departments comprised of both union and non union labor
Monitor and uphold quality control standards
Plan and allocate physical shop space for both short term and long term needs in coordination with all departments
Coordinate load out schedules, balancing client requirements with trucking and warehouse resources
Lead improvements to CNC routing operations and support training and development within that department
Oversee rentals and rigging operations including chain motor packages and rigging installations from a production management perspective
Preferred Qualifications
Five or more years of experience in commercial theatre or the live entertainment industry, including supervisory experience and or advanced degree
Experience working with union labor agreements related to stagehand and scenic art work
Ability to read technical drawings and work comfortably with AutoCAD
Proficiency with standard office and collaboration software
Strong understanding of scenic construction and automation systems
Familiarity with trucking and logistics coordination
Proven ability to prioritize, execute, and problem solve in high pressure environments while meeting tight deadlines
Clear and effective communicator
Self motivated, collaborative, and team oriented working style
Experience developing and implementing health and safety initiatives
Familiarity with automated tooling including CNC routers, lathes, and mills
